Waste Resource Management

Waste management represents a £4 billion sector and continues to remain a high profile subject for both authorities and their residents. Challenges in alternative waste collection and treatment methods, increasing disposal costs through the Landfill Tax and rising customer expectations mean that local authorities need to become more efficient and the WRMP helps to support and deliver these changes.
What did we set out to achieve?
The work within the WRMP theme is made up of 17 projects and these are managed through four programmes:
- Programme 1 –Officer and Member Capacity Building
- Programme 2 – Service Delivery
- Programme 3 – Strategic Support
What have we achieved so far?
- Savings of £1.8million in year one
- The IESE waste team has engaged with every disposal authority and nearly half the collection authorities in the south east to understand the needs of the sector
