Officer Training and Development

Surrey

This project is working with all the local authorities in Surrey to build the capacity of employees through developing skills and knowledge in a partnership context. The project is working towards rationalising and improving the delivery of learning and development in Surrey. It is facilitated by the Surrey Training Officers’ Group (STOG), an organisation comprising HR and training officers from all eleven Surrey Borough and District Councils and the Surrey County Council.

What did we set out to achieve?

• To work in partnership with all local authorities in Surrey to develop the skills and knowledge of employees.
• To work towards rationalising and improving the delivery of learning and development in Surrey, to ensure consistent management skills and reduce duplication.
• To increase value for money with regards to training spend within each authority.
• To enhance services provided through increased capacity and joint working.
• To promote of best practice and consistency by sharing the delivery of training and development.

What have we achieved so far?

• Completion of Advanced Coaching programme for Surrey Managers.
• Completion of needs analysis for Surrey Improvement Partnership (SIP).
• Delivery of management development programme.
• Development of Surrey-wide mentoring scheme.
