Influencing mainstreaming resources through partnership working - case study 9 2010

The local partnership landscape may change with the new Conservative and Liberal Democrat Coalition Government. However, it can be assumed that the need for local agencies to work collaboratively to address
challenging issues will remain. The new Government has agreed that deficit reduction and economic recovery are the most urgent issues facing Britain, and both parties agree that the main burden of reducing the deficit should be borne by reduced spending rather than increased taxes. This means finding smarter ways of working to deliver services at reduced cost, for example by realigning reduced budgets across the local area to maintain maximum impact.

The issues:

As the Total Place initiative demonstrates, there is a strong case for agencies to work together to identify how they can use their collective resources more effectively and efficiently across the totality of an area. This would reduce overlap and duplication between organisations whilst continuing to deliver high quality services for local people.
