Making involvement in the local strategic partnership seem like an attractive proposition for businesses can be a tall order. The language of sustainable community strategies, targets and indicators spoken by the public sector agencies necessarily involved is understandably offputting. But recognising that the aims in the sustainable community strategy could not be realised without the help of the private sector, Surrey’s Mole Valley LSP decided to take action. It invited local businesses to an event with the offer: “how we can help you,” and in so doing, has paved the way for productive future working relationships between the LSP’s public sector members and its new private sector friends.
