Performance Improvement

IESE Performance Improvement Theme is charged with giving assistance to councils who are the subject of adverse external assessment reports, and who ask for help.

The priorities are determined in consultation with the four other regional Performance Improvement Advisers, from the Audit Commission, GOSE, South East employers and IDeA.

What did we set out to achieve?

• To assist councils in tackling the issues thrown up by adverse external assessments
• To use existing resources from other IESE Themes to facilitate improvement plans
• To match councils’ own funding, where appropriate to enable the council’s Improvement Action Plan

What have we achieved so far?

There are currently 18 funded projects in the field tackling issues in Housing, Children’s Services, Performance Management, Leadership and Governance and Equalities.
