Introduction
In today’s economic climate local authorities are under a lot of pressure to cut spend, whilst maintaining a high level of service. The new coalition government has already scrapped large ICT projects and will be announcing further cuts as part of their plan to reduce public sector spend by £6.2 bn in this financial year. Over £68 million was spent last year on fixed telecoms by local authorities across the South East region (ATOS Spend Analysis 2009-2010). As one of the largest spend areas for most local authorities finding more effective ways of procuring telecoms whilst reducing spend will become a more significant issue over the course of this year.
Purpose:
The purpose of this workshop will be to focus on the procurement of telecoms. Examining ways of reducing Telecoms spend effectively without reducing the quality of service provision.
