Capacity Building

The IESE Capacity Building theme exists to equip members and officers with the skills to meet the challenges being posed by the pace of change in local government and partnership working, with an emphasis on finding ways to innovate, joining up demand, sharing knowledge on effective capacity building options and sourcing training and development services at lower costs.
What did we set out to achieve?
- Develop improved skills amongst officers and members, through commissioning and delivery of training courses that focus on improving skills in leadership, change management and innovation
- Promote solutions for skills development and knowledge sharing to identify skills shortages
- Increase the overall benefit of the training delivery and reduce the costs of delivery
- Ensure effective identification of organisational development needs through reviews of job and organisational cultures and performance management systems
- Increase capacity and performance through better project and programme management, strategic challenge events, talent management systems, cross organisational succession planning, new coaching and mentoring networks and use of e-learning tools
- Reduce the learning curve for new members through better member induction programmes
- Support members to achieve their political aspirations and delivery of priorities through the delivery of coherent organisational programmes
