Berkshire Strategic Transport Forum and Berkshire Economic Strategy Board
The Berkshire Strategic Transport Forum (BSTF) is now established and beginning to demonstrate the benefits of joint working, both to the constituent authorities and to regional and national transport bodies. The Forum aims to increase the capacity of transport officers, managers and Members in Berkshire and agree schemes and work which may be taken forward jointly for bidding and implementation.
What did we set out to achieve?
- Evaluate ways of joint working to improve efficiency
- Make an improved contribution to regional transport planning
- Increase capacity of transport officers, managers and Members in Berkshire to cut costs
- Devise and deliver a sustainable funding plan for BSTF in 2011 and beyond
- Deliver an Improved LTP Assessment
What have we achieved so far?
- We have published the following studies:
- The Cross Thames Travel Study (2007);
- Thames Valley Interurban Quality Bus Corridor Study (February 2009 with SEERA and Bucks CC)
- The Great Western Rail Access to Heathrow (GWRATH) study has been completed and awaits publication.
- Two kick-start bids are in preparation (Slough-High Wycombe and Newbury-Basingstoke)
- Baseline data is being collected from Local Transport Plan Assessments (LTP 1 & 2)
- Cash contributions to GWRATH 2 are being confirmed
- Scoping for the M4 Group scoping is complete
