Funding approved for low carbon project for SMEs and landlords
Berkshire Improvement Partnership recognise a need for landlords and SMEs to work together to tackle co2 emissions and have created the LoCUS (Low Carbon Understanding for SMEs) project support SMEs and landlords in Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Medway.
The project will establish and work with clusters of micro-businesses and SMEs to develop zero carbon business practices. Most services for SMEs related to energy audits have traditionally focussed on companies with larger energy bills and have not always picked up carbon footprint issues associated with waste, transport, and water.
By 2012, the project aims to have engaged 1,000 companies and created full action plans for 300. This will be achieved through the dedicated work of three officers funded through IESE and SEEDA for three years.
