Children’s Services: High Cost Placements
IESE’s High Cost Placements project for Children’s Services has completed support for a sub-regional tender for high cost placements, delivering significant savings to the participating authorities.
The project is now looking into the benefits of developing a database of targeted prevention services which would offset the need for higher cost services and deliver better outcomes for children. A survey of local authorities has confirmed the desire for such an information source, and further work is being commissioned to look at the cost benefits.
What did we set out to achieve?
- Create a library of best practice templates including exemplar PIDs, Partnership Agreements, and Consultation Plans based on the completed sub-regional tender.
- Research the requirement for, and cost benefits of, a database of targeted prevention services
What have we achieved so far?
- Supported the sub-regional tender for a high-cost placements service being jointly purchased by 6 authorities
- completed a survey into the requirements for a database of targeted prevention services
- carried out initial research into the cost benefits of targeted prevention services
How can your council benefit?
Currently we are working on tenders for a new residential care service for children and are reviewing best practice in independent fostering.
