The quality, outcomes and cost -effectiveness of the Shared Lives Programme
Shared Lives (formally Adult Placements) offer care and support within family homes to vulnerable adults. Although ideal support environments for individuals with low to medium support requirements, they can be tailored to provide support to people with very high level needs by supplementing the support programme with domiciliary and Day Care. The approach is designed to be personalised and facilitate independent living whilst being cost-effective at a time when authority purse strings are most stretched.
IESE’s Shared Lives project aims to evaluate the schemes across the region, capture cost and funding information, share good practice and work with authorities to enable them to identify efficiencies and improve their work in personalised social care.
NAAPS was commissioned by IESE to produce a Shared Lives Research Report [8.55 MB] that brings together quality, outcomes and financial information about Shared Lives schemes in the south east region. The research and evaluation stage of the the project is now complete and the report can be downloaded here [8.55 MB].
In the next stage of the Shared Lives Project, IESE will be working closely with local authorities and the third sector looking to introduce or expand the provision of Shared Lives.
If your authority requires more information or is interested in discussing how IESE could work with you on a Shared Lives project please contact:
